What the treatment involved
This patient presented with moderate dental crowding — teeth overlapping because there is not enough space in the jaw to accommodate them all in line.
Crowding is not only a matter of appearance. Overlapping teeth are harder to clean properly, and the surfaces a brush cannot reach are where decay and gum problems begin. Treating crowding is as much a hygiene intervention as a cosmetic one.
Fixed braces were used to gently guide the teeth into proper alignment. Brackets and wires were adjusted progressively to create space and improve the bite, which took around 18 to 24 months — the range depends on how the teeth respond and on how well appliances and elastics are worn.
The result is a properly aligned arch, noticeably better access for cleaning, and a bite that works.
