What the treatment involved
Creating a good smile in a spaced arch is a question of harmony — orthodontics and restorative dentistry working towards the same set of proportions rather than fighting each other.
The first step is orthodontic. The teeth are aligned and the space is properly distributed, so that every tooth has the room it needs to reach its natural size. Closing all the space in one place, or leaving it wherever it happens to fall, produces teeth that are the wrong width for the face.
The restorative work then completes the anatomy: aesthetic composite buildups, carefully shaped fillings, and contour refinement to recreate proper tooth form and balance.
